Hello fellow readers! Travis here, it's certainly been a little while since we've published a blog post. It's nice to finally get back at it!
We've had a crazy, wild last six weeks and it's nice to finally settle down and tell you all a little bit about it. About six weeks ago on our family farm we suffered a tragedy. Our Mothers house, barn, garage, workshop, sawdust shed, truck, horse trailer, everything burned in a fire. Everyone survived and while injuries were incurred, everyone is recovering and is well, which is amazing. Life can certainly throw some curve balls!
While all of this was going on we were thrilled to celebrate our first wedding anniversary on September 22nd! Nicole and I managed some time to sneak away to a local brewery and celebrate our marriage and our love. It was a great night of food, drink and wonderful company.
But, the best was yet to come! Nicole had the opportunity to attend the Surrey International Writers Conference and what a weekend it was! She had an incredible time connecting with other writers, learning from well regarded published authors and making awesome new friends. Plans are already in place to attend next years conference and she is looking forward to it.
In conjunction with the SIWC, the night before the official start we both took advantage of attending a reading and signing by three amazing authors, Sonali Dev (sonalidev.com), Renee Sarojini Saklikar (on Twitter @reneesarojini), and the incomparable Diana Gabaldon (dianagabaldon.com). All three women were incredible to listen to and to hear excerpts from their books, including Gabaldon's next Outlander novel! We brought a few Outlander books from our personal collection to have her sign and we had our picture taken with her too!
We're moving into the holiday season soon and Red Herring Books will have you covered for all your gift giving ideas and needs. There will be a a Black Friday sale as well as a sale for the holiday season beyond that.
